Overview:
Falun,
Sweden, offers a rich and vibrant cultural
life, particularly at the Dala Theatre and the Dalarna Museum.
It’s easy to stay in shape in Falun. Go for walks and bicycle
tours, or skiing and skating in the winter. Lakes Varpan, Runn
and Tisken, which surround the town, give Falun the feel of a
real lake city with numerous opportunities for swimming and
boating. All sights in and around the city are detailed under
the headline Sights.
Falun is surrounded
by nature and large forests. The municipality’s woods are home
to elks, lynx, wolves and bears. If you’d like to get closer
to nature, rent a cabin on the outskirts of the town. You can go
fishing and join wildlife excursions and elk and wolf safaris.
During the annual elk hunt around 300 elks are shot in the
municipality, as well as some bears.
