Overview:
Chambery, France, In
the center of an agglomeration of more than 100 000 inhabitants,
Chambery is between the solid masses of the
Wallows and Chartreuse, in the cluse which bears its name.
To the south, the city
extends towards the vineyards on the slopes from Combe from
Savoy; in the north, it joined almost banks of the lake of Le
Bourget - larger natural lake of France.
During centuries spent,
the fortune of Chambery was closely related to that of Maison de
Savoie, one of the most former reigning families of Europe,
going up in XIe century.
Today, the city is in the heart of the great
project of connection transalpine railway Lyon-Turin, with the
establishment of the Franco-Italian company "Lyon Turin
Ferroviaire" in charge of the international part of the
layout.
